Statement of Fundamental Truths
This statement of faith is the basis of fellowship and guidance among members, local churches sub-regions, and dioceses of the Gospel Outreach Church. It is also meant to guide our accountability to scripture truths and to wholesome ministry.
We believe in the Godhead who has revealed Himself as one God existing in three persons; Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Isaiah 42:1, 48: 16, Daniel 7:13).
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus which is affirmed by:
His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:3-35)
His sinless life (Heb 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22) iti.
His miracles (Acts 2:22;10:38)
His substitutionary work on the cross ( 1 Corinthians 15:2-3)
His bodily resurrection (Matthew 26:6, Luke 24:39, 1 Cor. 15:4)
His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9; 2:33, Philippians 2
Hebrews 1:3)
We believe in God the Holy Spirit the comforter of the Church, the one who convicts the world of their sins, reminds the Church of all truth and works through the saints by the spiritual gifts that are given by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.
We believe that the message in the 39 books of the Hebrew Bible (OT) and the 27 books of the New Testament is the infallible, inerrant word of God that alone is the final authority for all manner of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Corinthians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe in the creation, test and fall of man as recorded in Genesis (Gen. 1:26-27; 2:17; 3:6-9, Rom 5:12). That man’s only hope of redemption is by the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, the son of God and that: Salvation is received through repentance in the name of Jesus (Acts 2: 38). By washing of rebirth through faith, man becomes a new creation (Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 9:12; 22, Romans 5:11, Corinthians 5:17, Luke 24:47, John 3:3, Romans 10:12-15, Titus 2:11).
The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit (Romans
8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:17, Titus 2:12).
We believe and affirm the sufficiency of the atonement in the death of Jesus Christ which is also figuratively referred to as the “blood” or “cross” of Christ. His atoning death saves to the utmost those who come to God through him because he always lives to intercede for them (Heb. 7:25).
We affirm that the practice of the Christian faith can use aspects of local cultures but syncretism with local and folk religions and their practices should be shunned.
We believe and affirm that Jesus redeemed the church from the curse that was pronounced upon those who broke the Mosaic Law (Deut: 28: 15-68). Similarly, we believe and affirm that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross has fully delivered believers from all generational curses (Gal.3:13). Salvation is a one-time, total and complete work (Heb. 7:25). As such, a saved, Spirit-filled person needs no further deliverance (Gal. 3:13-14).
We practice baptism of believers by complete body immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit as commanded in Scripture (Matthew 28:19-20). In baptism, the baptizands symbolically re-enact the salvific transaction and thus confess their death to sin and resurrection to righteousness to henceforth walk in newness of life (Acts 10:47; 48, Romans 6:4). Upon reminiscence of their baptism, believers continually reckon themselves as indeed dead to sin and alive to righteousness (Romans 6:11).
